A Still Quiet Place landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
A Still Quiet Place landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I am at that place. A place of wondering what if... What if I paint something else. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this. First I painted in the calm soothing color then I went back and added the bright contrast. It was so relaxing and made me smile as I painted it. I hope you enjoy. 10x10, oil on gallery wrapped canvas. SOLD

Late Summer Blooms landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
Late Summer Blooms landscape painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I am working on the faded mist of the faraway woods. Of course I had to add a portion of fence. Actually The bottom painting is the first one and I called it done but as I looked closer for a little while I knew the color of the water just was not quite right. The top picture is after I went back and added a darker element to the water giving it a stronger more important look. I like it better anyway. I also added more orange in the water and you just can't go wrong with that right?  8x10 oil on canvas panel. landscape.

We Shrimp Today boat painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I love painting boats although sometimes I struggle with them. This one I must say I am pretty pleased with. Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I attended a workshop with Carol Carmichael in Birmingham, Al. over the weekend. It was wonderful to say the least. I certainly painted differently than my usual. Mostly explored more of a pastel look instead of the bold paints I most often use. Over the next few days I will be posting some of the ones I did at this workshop and afterward while still using the techniques I learned there. Thanks Carol for such a lovely time. Figurative painting oil on 10x8 canvas.

Powell Harbor by Angela Sullivan

Image
Powell Harbor by Angela Sullivan While camping at Lake Guntersville Alabama we passed this little lighthouse on the river. My daughter Julie was with me and I just so happened to have my Plein Aire setup in the car. I told her I just had to paint this so off we go down a tiny trail of a road. We drive up and Julie jumped out of the car to ask if it was ok to set up there to paint. It was hot and the air was still but I had so much fun. Might I say she was a little more tan when we left. Great fun.... To purchase via Paypal visit my Gallery

Today I Go Shrimping

Image
Today I Go Shrimping I love that mist filled air where shrimp boats gather. I can remember the heavy salty air at Bayou La Batre,Al a little fishing town on the gulf coast. My uncle Robert owned a shrimp boat there named the Morning Star. I think of him as I paint this.  6x6 oil on gallery wrapped canvas. $50 For sale at my DPW gallery via PayPal

Shrimping

Image
Shrimping Shrimp boats are so majestic and old looking. When I think of them I think of something old and creaking with each roll of the tide. I know I am wrong but my thoughts are along the gulf coast. A place where seagulls fill the sky and the smell of salt is heavy in the air. 6x6 oil on gallery wrapped canvas For sale or auction at my DPW gallery. Follow the link to pay via PayPal

Always There

Image
Always There Standing...In the sun...in the rain. On good days and bad. Standing... Just waiting day after day to help that wayward straggler. Kinda like us. I do believe I am here to help someone. Someone less fortunate than myself. My hope is that sometime before my life is over I would have made the life of someone else better. What will I do today? I will let you know. 7x5 oil on canvas panel Sold

Walking In The Rain

Image
Walking In The Rain Well actually I wanted to say walking in the rain with the one I love.... Some of you may remember this song. However today Walking is the rain alone is  the case. Isn't rain wonderful. The world smells so fresh and clean. Every thing just looks a little  brighter after a nice summer rain. One more secret about me is that I really just love the rain.  I was sitting on the front porch the other day when a down pour occurred. I got so wet that I  was forced indoors. With sadness I left my place of thought and solitude. Oh Well! Another day... Oil on 6x6 gallery wrapped canvas $50

Misty Lake

Image
Misty Lake Somewhere out there is a hidden lake where the water trickles down the path of least resistance kinda like some peoples lives. That is the easy path.  I must admit somedays I do follow that path just because some days I am lazy but then others I fight against the current. I stand up for what I believe and scream loudly in protest against things that are wrong. I miss the days where morales were held sacred and the people who held them high were thought of as good instead of bad. Makes me wonder where we are headed.  4x4 oil on canvas panel $40 Buy Now
