Abandoned Shrimp Boat painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
Abandoned Shrimp Boat painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan This Shrimp Boat is in Bon Secour, Al. It was beached during a hurricane and was owned by my uncle Robert Johnson. It is featured in the beginning of the TV series Hart of Dixie. I decided to paint it as I have fond memories of this boat. I ate many shrimp caught on this boat. Anyone who has ever been around a Shrimper knows that this is a hard brutal way to earn a living. I have respect for all those out there who face the weather and elements to bring us good things.6x6 oil on wrapped canvas.

Almost Home by Angela Sullivan

Image
Almost Home by Angela Sullivan A small dynamic painting with loose brush strokes and such a feeling  of just being there. As I painted this I think I could taste the saltiness on my lips and the air did seem a bit moist and warm. 7x5 oil on canvas panel. Today I Go Shrimping

Image
Today I Go Shrimping I love that mist filled air where shrimp boats gather. I can remember the heavy salty air at Bayou La Batre,Al a little fishing town on the gulf coast. My uncle Robert owned a shrimp boat there named the Morning Star. I think of him as I paint this.  6x6 oil on gallery wrapped canvas. $50 For sale at my DPW gallery via PayPal

Shrimping

Image
Shrimping Shrimp boats are so majestic and old looking. When I think of them I think of something old and creaking with each roll of the tide. I know I am wrong but my thoughts are along the gulf coast. A place where seagulls fill the sky and the smell of salt is heavy in the air. 6x6 oil on gallery wrapped canvas For sale or auction at my DPW gallery. Follow the link to pay via PayPal

The Carol

Painting this boat reminded me of an old shrimp boat my dad used to own. We, my dad, brother, sisters and I set out for a nice day of shrimping. A tremendous storm came up and almost capsized our 53 ft shrimper. I have never been so scared in my life. Acrylic on 10x20 panel board.
