Crab painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
Crab painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan This is oil painted on a 20x20x1.5 gallery wrapped canvas. It is much nicer than I was able to capture here. I have been wanting to paint nautical and things of the sea but find it quite a challenge.

Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Image
Getting My Feet Wet by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I attended a workshop with Carol Carmichael in Birmingham, Al. over the weekend. It was wonderful to say the least. I certainly painted differently than my usual. Mostly explored more of a pastel look instead of the bold paints I most often use. Over the next few days I will be posting some of the ones I did at this workshop and afterward while still using the techniques I learned there. Thanks Carol for such a lovely time. Figurative painting oil on 10x8 canvas.

Shrimping

Image
Shrimping Shrimp boats are so majestic and old looking. When I think of them I think of something old and creaking with each roll of the tide. I know I am wrong but my thoughts are along the gulf coast. A place where seagulls fill the sky and the smell of salt is heavy in the air. 6x6 oil on gallery wrapped canvas For sale or auction at my DPW gallery. Follow the link to pay via PayPal

Always There

Image
Always There Standing...In the sun...in the rain. On good days and bad. Standing... Just waiting day after day to help that wayward straggler. Kinda like us. I do believe I am here to help someone. Someone less fortunate than myself. My hope is that sometime before my life is over I would have made the life of someone else better. What will I do today? I will let you know. 7x5 oil on canvas panel Sold

Safe Harbor

Image
Safe Harbor Sitting in the harbor are two shrimp boats. Safe from the devastation of the recent oil spill. These two boats are in still water with only ripples from the current gently swaying them ever so slightly. They won't shrimp today. Today is a day of leisure, a day for their owners to spend time with their families a day spent in safe harbor. Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas 18x24. This painting is sold. JC Morgan Art Gallery Thanks to Sally Evans for naming the boats.

The Carol

Image
Painting this boat reminded me of an old shrimp boat my dad used to own. We, my dad, brother, sisters and I set out for a nice day of shrimping. A tremendous storm came up and almost capsized our 53 ft shrimper. I have never been so scared in my life. Acrylic on 10x20 panel board.
