Still Life Painting If That Isn't Love by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I am really enjoying painting rich and loose. Each stroke is a challenge and they don't always turn out like I tell them to. I should have named this you've got to know when to hold them know when to fold them. 20x16x1.5 oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

Table For Two still life painting by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I painted this for my entry for Savannah Christmas on The River Show. I had to send in a painting 50% complete and I thought that once again you might like to see the process for my paintings. Oil painting done Alla Prima on 24x12 stretched canvas. I left some bold brush strokes while leaving areas of thick rich paint created by using a palette knife. I added the bright yellow spot of color on the left upper area of the jar and laid in a little purplish right beside it for contrast. I added highlights to the pears and painted the table cloth in and then dragged paint down and across to make the table cloth under the towel.  This is the start of the painting blocked mainly just establishing location without much crisp detail.  Next I added the cloth, table edge, and pears. This is where I start adding the background color and making the water to look like water by going pretty light in the background ...

Eight Peared still life floral by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I really enjoyed painting this one. I reworked the flowers a few times and added the pears as an after thought. This is oil painted on 20x16 canvas panel.

Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan Among the paint props that my daughter gave me for Christmas was this little snowman. I was gonna wait until next Christmas to paint it but sitting there on the shelf I just couldn't resist along with the fact that every time my daughter came over she said Hey mom, when are you gonna paint the snowman. Table Tango by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan I had been wanted something special to paint so I went shopping yesterday and bought the pears,  the tulips, some apples and peppers. I hope that I will be able to paint all of them while they last. The tulips are already looking a little wilted but I hope they at least last one more day.   What's Inside Don't you just love getting gifts. The anticipation of what's inside is sometimes better than the gift within. I love the feeling of the smooth crispness of the paper and then seeing the beautiful bow.   Giving Love Away I am still in my quest of doing the perfect study which will become a larger painting. And daily I trudge along paintingmy little heart out. Today once again I paint this Teddy Bear which my mom gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I only have a few of them and treasure each one. As I think about this little bear I think about my mom. She will be 89 this year. I still call her each day and I can't help but think about all those times she showed me love in so many ways. Like all of the times she did without so I could have what I wanted not what I needed. Garden Seat In the garden right next to the old shed wall sets a weathered blue chair. Unnoticed it may seem to be abandoned but not so....It is grandmas chair just waiting for her to return and sit among the  tulips.
